Good helmet for biking. May 27, 2007 The different thicknesses of the extra foam inserts
allows you to adjust the fit precisely to the size
and shape of your head. I needed a thin pad in the back
and a medium forehead pad. They are attached using
Velcro, so you can do some test rides to see what
feels best on your head.
This helmet doesn't look as goofy as regular 'Alien'
style bike helmets. (It looks cool to me)!
The only drawback is smaller vent holes and less air
flow than the weird looking helmets.
I was out riding today in the hot sun and really didn't
notice a lot of difference.
I got white to avoid absorbing too much solar energy. :)
I will notice a nice difference the next time I ride
in cold weather. (I'm in New England).
Since there are less holes (and they are smaller),
I would guess that there is less chance of a sharp
branch penetrating the helmet(and your head) during
a crash in the woods.
The external shell of this helmet is thicker and heavier
than regular bike helmets. It would seem more likely
to stay in one piece during a multi-impact crash.
The straps are attached with steel brads and form a 'Y'
with ample space for your ears. The instructions are
very clear and explicitly explain the proper adjustment.
The helmet does not interfere with your vision at all.
You have to look up (all the way) before you can
see the forward edge.
This is my 3rd bike helmet, and it's the best on I've owned.
